    Uncle Al's

Uncle Al’s Thrift Shop

Uncle Al’s Thrift Shop is a major fundraiser for St. Joseph School. First housed in the Church hall it moved to larger spaces to a more visible area in the village.

If you have never been there you should take a look. Each week is like a treasure hunt and you never know what you will find. There are mink coats, evening gowns, men’s suits, baby clothes, jewelry, glassware, books, toys, and dishes just to name a few of the items you will find.

Uncle Al’s was established by parents of St. Joseph School over 25 years ago. Mrs. Barbara Rochfort was instrumental is getting the project in motion. Mrs. Rochfort’s 10 children are graduates, and now several of her grand children are students. She gave the school a wonderful legacy not only in sending her children to St. Joseph’s but in the work she did in helping to establish Uncle Al’s.

Not knowing what to name the new shop, a contest at school gave the children the opportunity to name it. One of the children used his uncle’s name and it caught on. Uncle Al’s is manned by volunteers and donations come in daily. I found from personal experience that if you see it and like it, you’d better buy it because it won’t be there next time. The shop is located on Front Street next to Marona’s Market. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10-4, and on Saturday from 10-1pm. Take a look next time you are in town and you never know when you may find that one great bargain! Supporting Uncle Al’s benefits your children so tell your friends and stop in soon!
